Fort Ligonier’s teacher programs are designed to provide inspiring and creative ideas for integrating history into multiple areas of the curriculum. Fort Ligonier Teacher workshop participants will gain insight, ideas, lesson plans, and activities to take back to the classroom. Participants will also walk away with content knowledge of our local history during the French and Indian War.
Each session demonstrates how to take historical facts, artifacts, a historic place, and immerse them with creative thought that will result in higher student engagement. All programs emphasize multiple disciplinary teaching and are aligned to state and national standards. Upon completion of the workshop, Fort Ligonier will submit your Act 48 hours to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
A typical schedule includes: morning workshop presentations and activities, lunch, a visit to the museum store to check out our collection of teacher resources, a guided tour of our historic site to view our amazing collection of primary source materials, afternoon presentations and activities. Participants will develop and share a lesson plan using the information learned throughout the day.
The cost is $25.00 per workshop. The price includes workshop materials, a catered box lunch (if lasting through lunch), and admission to Fort Ligonier. To register for one of our programs, or to schedule a workshop for your group, please contact Director of Education, Mary Manges at: 724-238-9701 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
